The LIRR horns are problem on their own. The new trains horns have been measured above 110 dB's. NYC guidlines say nothing above 80dB especially after 11pm. I called the DEP who said LIRR and MTA do not have to follow the same laws as everyone else...don't you think LIRR has taken advantage of that long enough? Every time a train passes by, they honk four times. <em> Exactly </em> four times. LIRR/Metro-North trains do that at grade-level crossing but there's no need to do it by my house because the crossing's above grade. Hence, why I live on the worst street in Richmond Hill. And this jazz about the tree-cutting, I just think it's laziness talking, one less thing the LIRR wants to worry about. They can say whatever the hell they want about it, but that's my point-of-view.
