As someone who walks everywhere, though, there's no other library that would be worth the time and effort for me to visit, and I can't imagine I'm alone on that.

i can't really respond to the unimpressive collection, the design, or how unattractive it is because those are pretty subjective assessments but there are several other libraries nearby - another actually located in forest hills (metropolitan and 70th ave). the rego park site is not too far away either on 63rd. then there's lefrak city, kew garden hills, richmond hill, briarwood. you do have options.

Small, unimpressive collection; unattractive; badly designed. That's pretty much it! I'm sure it's always busy, but it's the only library around.

can you elaborate on all the ways the forest hills library is terrible besides the poor science and math selections? it is always busy whenever i go.

anyway, they seem like there have a lot of adult programming in addition to children's stuff: http://www.queenslibrary.org/index.aspx?page_id=126&section_id=12&branch_id=FH

I agree Steve. I wish we had a decent library. It should have old newspapers from the area on microfilm, for example. Good Science and Math books would also be great. Why is the selection so despicable?
