I admit, I waited on a line for 5 hours at Roosevelt Field on Saturday to get the new iPhone. I never got the first generation because I was waiting for the price to drop and the next one to come out. I have to say, the phone is AMAZING, and now my husband is jealous! And I’m also a big mac fan… love my computer.

Apple makes the best computer products on earth, and probably in the Universe. Yes, I am a Macophile and have been since before there were Mac, when they were humble Apple II, IIc’ etc. They continually out perform anything out there.

I have a first generation iPhone and upgraded the software this weekend to 2.0. While I don’t get real time GPS, I have maps and triangulation and that works fine. No 3G, okay, Edge is slower, not horrible though, and I have better battery life and a slightly cheaper plan.

So, I love my iPhone, depend on it completely. Perhaps next year I’ll upgrade to the new iPhone, I’ll see.

The Iphone represents a transistion to the new evolving internet. Google maps on the phone, realtime web access, and allowing videos and multimedia to play.

In the internet era, recession does not translate into the few consumer products which customers REALLY want. Consumer spending becomes more focused. In fact the iphone will save customers more money, allow people to search more for things and improve their lives.

I passed that line, which stretched a little past the subway stairs I was headed for, on my way to work yesterday morning. Not knowing about the iPhone debut, I surmised that the store must have been giving cell phones away for free. In the current economic climate, I’m amazed to learn that people were queueing up and perhaps camping out for the privilege of buying a $200 gadget. Recession — what recession?
