The delivery guys with Trade Fair told me they went out to make a delivery and came back and found the store closed ‘for inventory’. It opened days later but they got rid of all the previous staff. It’s been closed for months for a complete renovation. In the interim, I’ve discovered ‘fresh direct’ so other than an occasional half and half or ben and jerry’s, I will learn to live without them (unless they resume the late night schedule).

Trade Fair was the best supermarket in the area with wider selection -who else carries olive oils from the Lebanon, halva from Israel, cheese from Turkey, both Kosher and Halal deli meats, etc.?– and at cheaper prices than the 3 other supermarkets in the neighborhood. They will be missed.

I heard that the person who bought Trade Fair was going to turn it into an Associated, but could not get the deal he wanted or expected with Associated, so now it is going to be a Key Food. Apparently the new owner owns one or more of each and he’s going with the better deal for him. The change in plans could be why things are at a standstill.

Baluchis by far has the most delightful indian food in the neighborhood along with quality service…Im a regular over there and live in Forest Hills. This is pretty falsified news and I doubt im going to stop indulging in their Chicken Tikka Masala!!!
