It is not right next to Ethan Allen, Pre-school of America, but is maybe a block or two further west. The Pinnacle was expensive when it opened, even when it still had the abatement and remains one of the most expensive buildings in Forest Hills. Fiber wires, jumpers, are run from the box on the floor to each individual apartment. We do not touch TW wires, they remain in their molding. In case TW needs access to their wire, they just open the cover of the bigger one and get inside. Yet another option is a separate molding, quite thin, installed under the TW.<br /> I saw only one building where the board decided to use the existing TW molding for Verizon wires as well. It's a pain in the butt, because it's old, crumbling and there's not much space inside...<br /> The new molding looks better than the old one anyway. I don't know how many cables there are under the plastic molding in my building, but the molding is not all that narrow and if something is going to be layered over that, it is going to be even more unattractive than what's there now. I guess they would have to take a look under the plastic and see if they could use something less bulky. My building has the Time-Warner wiring running along the ceiling of the hallways, covered by a plastic molding. My guess is that that molding is owned by Time-Warner and that somewhere in the paperwork Time-Warner is given exclusive use of that small area where the molding is. The question then becomes where is Verizon to run their FIOS wires, if they have to run through the hallways. </p> <p>Additionally, it was mentioned to me by someone that there are legal issues with the Verizon paperwork as relates to their willingness (or rather their lack of willingness) to hold the building harmless for certain damages to other vendors' equipment during and after the installation process. So if you have a cautious Board and an onerous Verizon contract, there could be months of negotiating back and forth to see if this could be worked out.</p> <p>Biker, as to your question, I don't know for sure, but I would think so. I thought that at least some part of the FIOS set-up is building-wide and I would think that therefore, the Board would have to approve it.
