We happened to discover tonight that the old deli/grocer next to the liquor store on QB and just outside of the 75th subway station is going to be a Peruvian restaurant. We're up for anything new and different in this part of the neighborhood! We talked to two gentleman who were opening the gate as we walked by. It's small inside but looks like they've done substantial renovations. They've been working on it for quite some time. Forgot to ask when they are opening!

Anyone know what it's called? I LOVE Peruvian!
If it's anything like Inti Raymi in Jackson Heights, I'm there!

My Peruvian friend lives around the corner and down the block from there, if I am understanding where you are describing--Is it right by the subway stairs on the south side of the Boulevard? I am going to have to go there with her and get her "expert" opinion.

Yes, that's correct. The gate is usually down most of the way, but there's usually work going on daily. I don't know the name of it, either. We should have asked more questions! Looks like it's going to be nice inside...

They put up an awning yesterday, finally. It's named Pollo Inka. Not sure what's taking so long...

I pass that place every day, wondering when it's going to open, and I guess I missed seeing the sign yesterday. I wonder why they hadn't put up any temporary signs or notices advertising the restaurant? I wouldn't have known what was coming if it wasn't for this site.

Good! I'll be watching for it.

On a different note (slightly), there's a restaurant on Lefferts Blvd in KG which has been under construction for more than two years. All things in due time...?

Walked by this place last night and they were working on the inside until 8:30 or so. We asked them through the door when they are opening and one of the workmen held up two fingers. Not sure if that means two days or two weeks, but they look close to being ready. Hope their food is good; it will be a welcome addition if it is!

A couple of weeks ago I asked a guy working there how long until they opened, and he said a month. So, it probably will be two weeks; I can't wait!

I heard that place had trouble with their liquor license, someone lied on the application. I peeked in a few years ago, and it looks like they had built a nice bar. They must have some deep pockets, that place has been held up for years.

No the place on Lefferets next to the Homestead Deli.

    Edit:
I just realized I was responding to a 2 month old post from AnotherKG

Hi AnotherKG & Kg97 and to all my neighbors, thanks for the tip on the new restaurant on QB. Always looking for new dining spots. But more to the point, any ideas what the place on Lefferts near Homestead will be? and when they will finally open. It has been more than a couple of years I think.
this may sound corny and I'll be showing my age - but sure wouldn't mind seeing another Regents Row type place. I know it was not the best or most interesting menu but it was great fun and worked here. Between the fireplace in the winter, the french onion soup, burgers, the bar, the crowd, etc. just made a nice to place all those years back and i still think of it fondly. does anyone remember Gregory's on Metro where the TD Bank is now?

No word on the never-ending restaurant. I sometimes see lights on behind the construction paper but I have no word on what's to come, or more to the point, WHEN... a few more restaurants and KG would be better.

Hey AKR. That restaurant ran into money issue. He has his license. It's one guy trying to fulfill a dream, and well we know how that works. He's a nice guy, grew up in the nabe, bought the building when it came up for sale, and then, woops, money troubles.

Hell it happens. Hopefully soon he'll open up and a new restaurant in KG would be rockin'.
