They do have a vending machine with drinks as well as water fountains. It was just downright strange. Besides, you know I look mean!

jane, I misread your first post. That is weird that he asked you to run an errand for him?!?!?!!?

Barbee, the (Hispanic I think) trainer with the great body. If you use the cardio machine, you see him walking around.

    :)

I thought you did, Biker. Yes. Exactly.

biker, I always see that Hispanic trainer with the great body. He makes me a bit uncomfortable as he always seems to be longingly staring at me.

Sounds like the trainer had a poor pickup line--you were leaving and if you ran an errand you would be back shortly

    LOL

Jane I knew this trainer's number the minute you posted about him. Many of these guys are uneducated Neanderthals with zero social skills. Put that together with their extreme narcissism and you get someone asking a complete stranger (one of their customers paying their salary no less) to go out and get them a drink.

Last month I volunteered to be the photographer at the wellness day at my work. They had exercise seminars during the day including having a bunch of trainers from a nearby gym to give workout tips. Taking these trainer's photographs took twice as long as the others because they had to keep looking at my camera's LED screen to find out how they came out. Working with toddlers would have been easier.

Patrick, calling them uneducated Neanderthals is rather harsh.

I've interacted with many of them and unfortunately that's what they are. That's why as one of the posters commented earlier on, a person can be hanging off a machine upside down and these many of these trainers wouldn't think to do their jobs and actually help the person.

I received a flyer in the mail the other day from the NYSC touting how they are upgrading their equipment, getting involved with the community and offering a free month's pass to a friend. I have a feeling this flyer is merely a warning of sorts that the membership fees are being raised. From my experience, they go go up every September in my particular case. I wouldn't mind it so much if indeed they DID maintain their equipment better. The dirty locker rooms can also be blamed on the members, some of whom regularly leave towels randomly all over, don't flush toilets and generally don't respect the rights of other members.

OMG Bobby, you are so right!!!!!

Biker, I think I know who you're talking about - he trained me - I couldn't walk for two days! (Insert inappropriate joke here!!! LOLOLOL!!!!!)

Patrick does have a point, to be honest, and if you're not training with them, you won't get the time of day.

I was on the 6:40 bus but they blocked off Third Ave for a while (after I got on the bus) for Obama, so it was too late by the time I got to FH. That's my excuse anyway :)

jane, is that the QM12? Is it busy?

How long does it usually take to get back to Queens?

Biker, it probably was the 12. I take the one from 57th and Madison and, on a good day (RARE!) I can be back in Queens by 6:20 - I leave work at 5:30. However, as of late, the bus schedules have changed and certainly NOT in favor of the rider. Now it's a guessing game as to when they show up.

Not really--it was too obvious. It could be Weiner--he lives in FH

Weiner usually doesn't ride the QM12; I think he is a Q60 type of guy - slow and methodical.

the subway would be much quicker for you.

why do you opt for the bus?

Me, biker? Because sometimes my COPD flairs up in the extreme heat and I can't breathe; you'll see me sucking down my inhaler! I subway in the fall/winter/early spring. Frankly, I like the subway (believe it or not), but when it's too overwhelming with heat, I can't bear it.

I get on the QM12 at third and 51. The 6:40 bus should have had me to the gym by like 7:20.

Tonight I am shooting for the 6:10 which means I should be wrapping up here and getting out :)

I made it over there tonight. All I did was the Nautilus circuit. I did not see any cute trainers, and no longing glances. Except mine because there was a couple hogging the bicep machine in between rounds of making out and I wanted to use it.

However, I did see we have a new machine. It looks like a giant face mask. Does one of the 3 B's from the gym (Bobbyrab, Barbee or Biker) know what it's for?

Oh and I saw my "drinking buddy" hanging in the lounge with 2 chicks.

I was there tonight as well Jane. I thought it was pretty empty for the evening although I am there usually in the daytime. I have seen a new machine there but I didn't really go over a take a good look at it so I forget the details of it. Maybe it is a an aerobic face tightener?

Late coming to this thread. Jane's first post about the drink made me laugh out loud. I go to to the RP location b/c of convenience, and b/c I joined when it first opened. Brand spankin' new and relatively empty. Particularly compared to the one horrible experience I had at Austin St. I would never go into such a crowded, poorly ventilated place w/dozens of ppl sweating up a storm on a regular basis. Are the prices the same? I find the RP fee to be more than it's worth lately. Besides Bally's on other end of town, don't know less expensive alternatives. How easy is it to get to Woodhaven gym? Subway-accessible?

I didn't see you Bobbyrab or I would have chatted you up. I was in and out of there in like 25 minutes. I have a huge deliverable at work tomorrow and if it doesn't go well.....let's put it this way.....I'll be able to go to the gym anytime I want :)

NYO - I think that gym is Metro and Woodhaven which I believe you would need a car for. I feel like NYSC is the only game in town.

NYO-- World Gym/W Fitness, is on Woodhaven, off of Fleet-- you do need a car-- a bus might head down Woodhaven, but I'm sure that would be a pain in the neck.

thank you, Monica. World Gym/W Fitness sounds like a trek. definitely not within my motivational field of circumference.

NYSC Forest Hills isn't great, but it's adequate, and it's convenient. (My last gym was a scruffy YMCA, so my standards are pretty low.) I do love my Friday night yoga class. I'm always a happy cat afterwards.

But jane11375 - you mentioned the machine hogs. What DOES one do? Half of my usual workout is on the third floor of the FH gym, and some of those machine hogs are guys twice my size. You can smell the testosterone on that floor. The hogs just sit on the machine and wait a looooong time between their sets. I could have done two sets in the time they're sitting there. But I haven't yet said anything to any of them.
