( me)Kindle 3 has formally been announced! Doesn't have many of the cool features that were rumored, but I'm picking it up anyway. Now there's both a 3G and a wifi. The wifi only one is only $139. This one for me is a no brainer. It's a bummer that it's available August 27th... the day AFTER I leave to Europe :(

( me)For what it's worth, I placed my order last night. At this price, you know that they're going to sell like hotcakes. I don't want to be left waiting 3 months before I get one due to placing an order late. When the price of the Kindle went from $259 to $189, Amazon says that Kindle sales tripled. Now that the price has been reduced again by $50 AND it's a new version you're going to suck in people that have been on the fence about it. You're also going to get people that have been waiting for a new model (like me).
I also got the burgundy case without the light built in. Looks like the built-in light not only adds weight, but it's one of those annoying LED lights. I can't stand the type of light they provide... kinda cold and bluish

( me)Jane: There's not that much of a difference in ship time. If your order was one of the first, you get it August 27th. If you ordered it today, it'll ship on or before September 4th. A few days, not a big deal!
