I am a HUGE fan of this show and of Larry David. Last night's episode, IMHO, was the best of the season (three episodes so far) and one of the best ever. When Larry accused Funkhowser of "pulling a Koufax" to get out of a golf tournament because it was being held on the Sabbath, I just about lost it. Very funny analogy of opening a new Palestinian chicken restaurant next to an established Kosher deli to the potential Muslim Center here in lower Manhattan. If you can see this show, don't miss it; we can all use a good laugh!!

I was just commenting on a friend's blog (about various tv shows), how great I thought this season of Curb Your Enthusiasm has been so far (compared to Rescue Me, which I thought was awful-- at least the season premiere, and Entourage, which was so-so-- but I won't stop watching because of Jeremy Piven). I love this show....and this season is working on being the best so far, at least on the basis of the first 3 shows...and the action hasn't even moved to NYC yet!I loved their old advertising campaign from a few years back- "in your heart, you know he's you."

The link didn't work for me API but I have a hunch which scene you are referencing. Only Larry can mention Theodore Hertzl during sex, lol. To be honest, I think Larry tapped into a fantasy many Jewish men have probably had, myself included. Just shows that therapy isn't always effective, lol. The Jews who would be offended by this episode are not likely to be watching Curb at all. the show has a long tradition of poking fun at Jewish peccadilloes, and these people would have been offended way back at the first season. No, they would have been offended back in 1968 with the Producers. Then again, poking fun at Jewish peccadilloes is the strongest part of traditional Jewish humor.

The whole thing seems very Woody Allenesque. I've seen a couple of episodes and don't find Larry David all that funny, too much of a nebish and a bit surreal. He seems out of place not by design but in the character he plays. But then I didn't like Seinfeld that much either. It's not always good to play yourself, Carl Reiner figured that out 50 years ago.

I thought the episode was absolutely brilliant. It wrapped so much around the insane premise. I think people are way to humorless and perhaps that's why some don't get it. Or too sensitive. Larry David is a special cup of tea.
