Has anyone been here? They are located near flushing meadow park.
They were in Entourage last night. I've been wanting to go there but just haven't gotten myself in the mood. I hear it's an old school dress up italian kind of place.

I have been to Don Peppe down on Lefferts Blvd. near the Belt Pkwy. Old-school, family-style Italian known for their baked clams, clam sauce and family-style portions. They only accept cash and the food is really, really good.
I thought Don Peppe was in Ozone Park by JFK.
Yes. Ozone park by jfk. Got my geography mixed up.
Not really a dress-up kind of place; kind of go with a large crowd type of place and tuck your napkin in your shirt.
Is Don Peppe the place where they serve the dinner "family style" around tables and there is no menu?
There is a menu of sorts on the wall as I recall. Yes, the portions are family-sized.
Don Pepe is the bomb. You will never go to Family Restaurant again if you visit the Don .
Given what they've become it's not likely you'll go even if you don't go to the Don.
Quite right....no one should go there regardlesss. Ack I only went there once and I still remember it. And not fondly.
In the old days when the original owner was there it was different, but in recent years it's just not very good. I used to have lunch there when it was a pizza place and I remember when he did the first expansion.
I love Don Peppe but you have to go with a group. It's family style, very casual, authentic Italian, tremendous portions! My favorite dish there is Veal a la Don Peppe.
Another favorite authentic Italian restaurant is Bamonti's. Old world, family owned and very good. When you talk Italian food, you need to really try Bamonti's first.
I'll also add Stella's in Floral Park. That was wonderful.
I like the Matteos chain for my red sauace Italian food. They are all over Long Island and in Florida too. (and they have menus too :) )
+1 for Stella's on Jericho Tpke. and treacherously close to the g-man.
I'm checking out a place called Fanatico's in Jericho this week. I heard that the food there is great and the portions are huge.
It sounds like a perfect place for the soon-to-be-held QC Forum sort of annual get-together ;)
Bob: Don't you think that would be a tad too far for many. Even the train station is about 3 miles down the road. Don Peppe wouldn't be a bad idea, Bamontes or even the Park Side, as long as it's not on a Thursday.
TR, you may have missed my "wink". It is a tongue in cheek post as people have been talking about a QC get-together for a long time and I was just having some fun.
A while back I proposed Dees as a compromise to TGIF as a concession to those in KG who complained Austin St was inconvenient--the Q23 is near to most in FH and RP going home and the Q54 is on Metro for those in KG. Morrisons is on the corner of Metro and Continental for the HH part. Dees is OK pizza with a lot of choices and can accommodate a group
I'm going to be in the Jericho area because I want to pick up a bookcase at ikea. I asked a few co-workers who live in that area if they could recommend a nice place for my friends and I to have dinner while we're out there. They raved about Fanatico's.
It definitely would be too far for a QC dinner! :)
You're gonna be on Broadway. Jericho Turnpike is due north and South Oyster Bay Road is right there. My sister lives about 5 minutes from there. I will ask her about Fanatico's. By the way, you won't be that far from the Plainview branch of Fairway (Fairway is the Manetto Hill Road exit), so if you have never been and you are curious, it might be worth a detour.
Jewels, I LOVE Dees!! I hope it's Dees but I wouldn't mind trying some of the places mentioned that I haven't been to, like Stella's. If we did Dee's we could probably get the private room.
Shayna, funny you should mention Fairway. Yesterday morning on Fox News, they mentioned a new book called "100 Reasons to Leave NY" and one of the reasons was "New Yorkers get too excited about Fairway". LOL!!
There may be 100 reasons to leave New York, but I am sure there are 10x that many to come here or stay here!
Oh, and as for Fanatico, my sister said she's heard the name, but nothing about the place. So much for her as a source.
