....this Forum isn't as good as it used to be??
It has lost a lot of its edge IMHO. Is it my imagination or do a lot of the old timers not post as frequently as they used to? Maybe it is because of the infamous Poprocks Chronicles. I was just curious about what others think.

I couldn't agree more, Bobby. It's been a while since I've been on here because, quite frankly, I have little interest in what restaurants and stores are opening in the neighborhood and the political rhetoric doesn't change from one day to the next.

I agree, to a point. We did lose some of the old timers after the rocks were popped, although I suspect some of them do occasionally resurface. (Unless I simply Miss Understood...)However, some of our more provocative members have always had periods where they disappeared and periods where they posted frequently, like Forlifer. Hey, as I recall, the guy is at least semi-retired, so why not enjoy yourself? Has it lost its edge? Well, the edge always varied from sharp to dull, usually in between. Some things will always remain, until the acid rain (Oops...that's junk science. May hurt business...therefore its false...)weathers them away. Someone will say something...then TR will give the conservative response...then FHGuy will give the liberal response...then the peanut gallery will chime in, KG and me on the lib (I prefer to call it rational) side, Fatty on the argumentative lib side, Coced and another KG on the conservative side, and TR and FHguy will repeat themselves ad infinitum. Those with the strength will persevere to add their 2 cents, KG will give up and tell TR he is always right because he knows everything, and I will lay low until I feel I have something reasonable to say....if I don't just give up. Then TR will respond by repeating something he has said, and the circle of life goes on forever.....(Or, as they did on South Park, the circle of poop. I may not always agree with Matt and Trey, but I can always acknowledge their points.) This place will revive, as surely as Tue begat Pat.

Eric, I guess you missed my recent post (about a week ago) where I said that I'm not going to respond to Talbot any more about political issues. I finally realized that there is no point in trying to have a rational discussion with someone who lives in a fantasy world. I've wasted a lot of time on him in the past and I decided not to waste any more time on him. So you won't have to endure me repeating myself "ad infinitum" any more.
If this is contributing to the forum "losing its edge", then others will have to pick up where I left off and try to correct all of the factual errors in Talbot's comments. It's not that hard to do--just time consuming.

When this forum has lost it's edge is when there will be nobody asking if it's lost it's edge.

Maybe it would help if we all surprised each other a bit:
1. TR becomes more liberal
2. FHGuy becomes more conservative
3. Pat becomes straight
4. Moll turns into a Pollyanna
5. FORLIFER gets a p/t job as a hairdresser and posts a bit too frequently
6. jewels only shops at retail exclusively
7. g-man loses his taste for wine and drinks diet Coke exclusively
8. Eric becomes illogical
9. Flo turns into a bigot
10. biker is only attracted to Nordic men

Junost, I checked that forum out a while back and it seemed to have become a mecca for spam. I don't know what's become of bugleg; I haven't seen him post here in quite awhile. It is the old adage, "no good deed goes unpunished" I guess.

You know I still want FHGUY's connection, that must be some real good shit he's smoking. The man is just simply a legend in his own mind. Perhaps if he spent more time correcting his own factual errors, rather than chasing windmills in a wasted attempt to find mine or anyone elses he might be a little less contentious. Of course if he did that he'd be too busy to post, take some of the fun away.

I actually check Queensneighbors every few days...nothing posted since the end of May....and that was my post. Spam is gone though. And, as expected...the circle does go on...hmm....I wonder about this obsession about connections and good....umm....and I'm not rational?

We would but I thought it was great--during the Poprocks saga--that Bugleg stepped up and made another forum. I think our comfort level with this site led us back here when it started working again, but if it hadn't we'd be posting there.

I will be forever grateful to Steve and QC. I've made some lifelong friends here. Made a few enemies as well ;)
I think this forum is a great sounding board for batting around ideas with other people. I get a different perspective that I might not have thought of which is cool. The restaurant recommendations from you folks (and are now my favorites like Dumont) is worth the price of admission here alone!

Completely agree on bugleg having come through for everyone before. Aldi's coupons though? Hmmm, maybe the weekly non-grocery specials. That's where the excitement is!

Maybe a lot of the former posters got sick and tired of what was happening a while back and decided it wasn't worth posting only to find it being deleted every few minutes and found new places to share their thoughts.
Bugleg did a wonderful service for us by giving us a new home and I, for one, am sorry it didn't take off as well as it should have. THANKS, BUGLEG. :) I'd be more than delighted to buy you a drink.
Personally, since I get the Sunday newspapers and the Thursday/Friday circulars that are left at our building, I really don't have to rely on the Forum for the coupon alerts. Having lived for more than six decades, I can also pretty much figure out how to do my banking, but it's the thought that counts, isn't it?
