I am typing this from my free internet connection at Sonoma Coffee Cafe. I made the switch about a week ago from Starbucks. I'm not a Starbucks hater, in fact friends and relatives might call me a Starbucks lover, but I ventured a few blocks down Queens Blvd. to check this place out. Quiet, clean, nicely decorated, excellent coffee, frequent free cookies and free internet. It's sad that I might be in here for 4 or 5 hours at a time and that's about how many people wander in and out. Please give this place a chance, break free from the Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts stranglehold. Yeah, it's a chain too but it's a franchise and the owners deserve a chance. FYI - I am not affiliated in any way

I don't live by there. For those who live by 71st and Continental give or take, its pretty much a choice of Starbucks or McDonalds for coffee. Not sure if there are any other coffee places around maybe on Austin Street or something. Maybe someone else would know. But there's no Sonoma on this side and distance wise its too far away.

Great that you wrote about Sonoma cafe Quest577! I’ve been meaning to inform my fellow Queen’s folk about this lovely coffee spot. I walked past it a couple of weeks ago and I was intrigued. It is decorated nicely and they have free internet access! I went in for a fresh cup of coffee and a delicious piece of coffee streusel cake; I was surprised on two counts. First, that the owner was very nice and accommodating and secondly that nobody came in during the 40 minutes that I was there. I feel that it just might be a matter of getting the word out. So if you are in that neighborhood, give it a try!

Quest, based on your post I gave Sonona a try yesterday. The verdict .....
Hands down it is not only the nicest place in the "hood" to enjoy coffee, but it's also the best coffee!

The gentleman who took my order and gave me my coffee could not have been nicer. The store itself was immaculate and the two big leather chairs were incredibly comfortable. Quite the difference from the Starbucks down by Union Turnpike. I had coffee there on Thursday night and was really quite appalled by how much liter was all over the floor in the outside area.

Give Sonoma a chance folks!! This is the type of store we need to see thrive in Forest Hills!

haha .... well, I've been called worse!!
    Seriously, check it out.

On another note, I'm less and less enthralled with the organic place that opened in Rego Park. When I first went you could excuse the poor service as grand-opening pains. Now it's just a pain.

Any idea what happened with the Staubach venture? All of a sudden the signage is gone and the space is available for sub-dividing. I realize that Rouge was not a popular establishment on this board, but I liked it, and now it's closing (and the nice outdoor seating that went along with it) seems like just a total waste.

Yes, Sonoma Cafe has paid me top dollar to pose as a "resident" of the area in order to create a "buzz". In fact, I will be paid $2 for every person that goes to Sonoma Cafe on my recommendation. It's a little shady, but it's a living! So far I have made $2.

Quest, maybe they aren't paying you, but I think they may have paid three of this site's other "members" (actually it was probably just one person with three accounts)

All joined to make posts in only one thread and about one thing only - how wonderful they think Sonoma is. Never to be heard from again.
