Lot-Less and Couch Concerns

So I was looking for rugs, the first step in furnishing my new apartment, and I was qalking around QB and went into Rego Park -- and I found Lot-Less. WOW! I mean, it is a discount store and all, but it is organized, and has AMAZING deals. 5x8 area rugs for $30, 8x11 area rugs for $60! Seriously? SO I started looking at other things -- pretty decent looking luggage for $10-$15 for carry ons (these are soft sided with wheels, etc!) -- I was so happy as I feared that I would be spending many hundreds of dollars to cover my floor in rugs or have to go to Home Depot to get those crummy industrial feeling ones.

Anyway, so it got me thinking. The other piece of furniture I need is a couch. Are there any other places that have absolutely ridiculous deals like this in the area? Lot-Less had a few couches, but really only one style and not terribly comfortable. I have tried looking at craigslist, but since I don't own a truck, transporting it would be difficult. Anyone have any experience with this? I just want something long enough that a guest could sleep on it and comfortable -- I don't care about fancy style or italian leather or any of that.t

    Thanks folks

I heart Lot Less. There's another place down the block that I got a dresser from. It's hit or miss at these stores...

Cool JKNY -- you don't happen to remember the name of that place, do you?

Also, how did everyone else here get their furniture, especially couches?

I rented a van and drove out to Tanger outlets when Pottery Barn had a 40% off all furniture sale. They frequently have those sales - sometimes up to 50% off.

I was able to snag a Greenwich sofa and a Classic loveseat for $1,100, which is an absolute steal.

There is a discount furniture place next to the Staples on the service road off the Van Wyck, its right past Jamaica Hospital....... very very cheap prices and some nice looking stuff, they also deliver. Similar to Lot less on being hit or miss but very very affordable if you get in there on a good day, also have bedroom sets.

I also went to Tanger to pottery barn for my couch, was out there this past weekend and they had a lot of couches in the 1,000 range.... but again its a trip.

If your comfortable making a purchase online and not physically seeing the couch. we have made some purchases at overstock.com. the shipping is 2.95 so its really low and they have a variety of things to choose from.
