I too would love a greenmarket. It’s such a shame that residents here can go through the whole summer without tasting fresh local produce. I don’t know about Station Square. There really isn’t as much space as you would think and cars are constantly going through, particularly to pick up/drop off passengers at the station. Farmers need space to set up and to park their trucks. If they sell anything that needs refrigeration, they often need their trucks for that. As for the Gardens, there might also be a problem with insurance, and, as you know, there is no public parking without a permit.
How about McDonald Park?

It isn’t that huge a space, but I doubt that we’d be able to attract a greenmarket even close the the size of Union Square’s anyway. And I am pretty sure that the Gardens *would* be happy to host a Greenmarket in Station Square. Or at least some people might. I talked to a few of the higher-ups about the possibility of closing the square on weekend nights in the summer for outdoor dining and perhaps a beer garden. They loved the idea, and the Gardens does have the authority to close Station Square whenever they want, but they didn’t have much advice to offer on how to pursue the idea, and I, being naturally lazy, didn’t.
I was thinking MacDonald Park, too - but they’d need open space, right? How about the road between MacDonald park and the Post Office? Or “Restaurant Row” road?

A Greenmarket in Forest Hills is something that’s been on a lot of people’s wish lists for a long time, but nobody ever bothered to do anything about it until the forums’ mickiet actually–get this–wrote to the people responsible. And guess what? They wrote back, saying it might be a possibility and asking for potential locations! If enough people write, they’re sure to seriously consider it, so I encourage you to do so. All the details you need are in the thread linked above. For my money, Station Square would be the perfect location, and who knows? The Gardens people might actually be into the idea.
