You mean the turn-QB-into-an-expressway thing? Points for originality there. I'm always up for new ideas!

I live in Jackson Heights and before I moved here I used to think it was 'not nice' when all I saw of it was the seediness and hustle and bustle and lack of sun under the 7 train, and the one or two streets that were entirely Indian/Pakistani stores (nothing wrong with those stores but I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood that catered exclusively to Indians and Pakistanis).

Then I took another trip to Jackson Heights and saw what 37th Ave was all about (historic shopping street) and just north with all the beautiful brick buildings with private interior gardens. And I realized that the mix of ethnicities is enormous and therefore no one should feel out of place. There is an entire book written about the history of Jackson Heights (interesting history - check the wikipedia article). So maybe AJ has never actually seen Jackson Heights. Or maybe he has, and just thinks no one is as good as him, and no neighborhood is as good as his, and no building as good as his, etc etc.

On the contrary, I think Jackson Heights and parts of Flatbush are great, particularly the area to the west of Kings Plaza. Inwood, I dunno, it's so-so except for one block, probably near Fort Washington Avenue and W. 207th Street. Riverdale, a great neighborhood in the Western Bronx! I wish I lived there, truly.

Maegan, you should have been here for the Queenscentral.com famous Queens Blvd. Fiasco.

Steve, remember that? That was great!

Maegan--in the past, aj has also said that the people of Rego Park are not the same "caliber' of those in Forest Hills. He has also recently said that the people of Forest Hills are not as good as those in Manhattan. I would take what he says with a grain of salt, most of the rest of us do.

As for me, I love jackson heights--the ethnicity is what makes it interesting.

AJ, I'm curious as to what you mean by saying that those (mainly ethnic) neighborhoods are not nice?

Forest Hills is much more expensive than Riverdale. You can buy nice 2br/2ba apartments in Riverdale for 250-300k. Riverdale is also far less convenient than Forest Hills.

Riverdale is a NICE AREA as well as Forest Hills. Inwood, Jackson Heights and Flatbush are NOT NICE.

Riverdale vs Forest Hills, each has advantages over the other. Both areas have very good schools and are safe neighborhoods.

Forest Hills has lots of potential for a few years out if any of the development plans get finalized and approved.

But it is still lackluster compared to the charm of the BIG cities like San Francisco and Manhattan which are tops for young working professionals.
